The Ittel Home Page

This home page is devoted to the Ittels of southwestern Ohio. David H. Ittel came from Germany in about 1875 and settled in Butler County, Ohio, starting this line. Ittel - A name used in Alsace-Lorraine, it is most often the name of a person of German origin. Ittel can also be the name of a locality. It is the name of a German township. There is a German variant, Itel. It is formed from the root id-, whose meaning is not very clear. M. T. Moret proposes the old Icelandic idh (=work).
