I am a descendant of Jarrett Jones Ivy (or Ivey), who was born in North Carolina on September 14, 1814 and died in Tunis, Texas on February 03, 1885. The most likely candidates for Jarrett's parents seem to be David Ivey, Jr. and Rachel Jones, who were married August 9, 1805 in Johnston County, North Carolina.

An audit of Jarrett's military record (signed by "F. Stobo Farrow, Auditor" and dated dated July 17, 1893) includes the following:

"Jarrett J Ivy was paid as private in Captain Henry Norwood's Co. of Ala. Vols. from June 1 to August 17, 1836, and travel pay for 240 miles to place of rendezvous and 50 miles from place of discharge home. He was enrolled at Montgomery June 1, 1836, and mustered out at Huntsville August 17, 1836. No other stations are mentioned."

"Jarrett was paid as bugler in Captain P. Rozell's Co. Ala. Vols. from Oct. 26th, 1837, to April 9th, 1838, and travel pay for 4 miles to place of rendezvous and 220 miles from place of discharge home. He was enrolled at Bellefonte, Ala., Oct. 26th, 1837, and mustered out at Fort Mitchell, Ala., April 9th, 1838. One man died at Volusia_. One man killed accidentally at Suwanee. One man "on com'd" at Tullahoss_. Two men "on com'd" at Fort White. No other stations mentioned."

Jarrett married Eliza Jane Walls on December 5, 1839 in Jackson County, Alabama. Eliza Jane was born September 01, 1822 in Bellefonte, Alabama, into the family of Daniel Walls and Malinda Browning.

They lived 13 - 15 years in Jackson County, then 15 years in Lafayette County, MS, and finally, 15 years in Burleson County, TX. He died in Burleson County on February 3, 1885.

Other major lines in my family tree include Cabell, Calhoun, Carrington, Moseley, Shields, and Tharp.

I will gladly share copies of the historical documents and/or photographs that I have with other researchers who are willing to reciprocate.
