Francois JACQUET (1817-1884) married Francoise MUGNIER (1813-1872). They were from Les Houches, Haute Savoie, France, near Mt. Blanc. They had five children in France (Mary, Adelphine, Dorothy, Albert, and John), and in 1846 the family came to America and settled in Louisville (Stark County),Ohio. They had six more children after coming to this country(Ambrose, Frances,Rose, Marcelline, Delphine, and Louise). Not all the children survived childhood. One of their children, Albert Ambrose JACQUET (1843-1907) married Celestine BALIZET (1847-1932). Their son, Edward Alexis JACQUET (1873-1948) married Rachel LA RIVIERE (1872-1955). Their son, Edward Albert JACQUET (1902-1979) married Dorthea Anna LOHNER (1908-1980). I am James Justin JACQUET (1955-), the youngest of their children. I was born in Cleveland, Ohio, but have since moved to Olympia, Washington. My late mother compiled a fairly extensive family tree in 1967, and I have been updating and corroborating her findings. I can provide a chart to anyone who is interested and sends me their snailmail address. I can also email a gedcom file, for those of you with genealogy software. See my JACQUET GENEALOGY website at: http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Pond/7087/family/ I am interested in hearing from the descendants of Francois and Francoise’s other children. I also recently learned that a Jean Baptiste JACQUET came from France in 1834 and settled in Stark County, Ohio. By 1850, he and his family were living in Wells, Co., Indiana. In time the name changed from JACQUET to JACQUAY. I don’t know how (or if) Jean Baptiste JACQUET is related to ‘my’ Francois. Cousin? Uncle? I just don’t know at this point. There are also JACQUETs of African descent who have lived in the south since the 1700s There are also Jacquet’s of Belgian descent. If we were to share family liniages, we might find out who is related to who. It is an interesting puzzle. Thanks, and hope to hear from you-- Jim Jacquet 5121 Viewridge Dr. SE Olympia, WA 98501 [email protected]
