      3. Peter⁶ Marion (John⁵, John⁴, John³, Benjamin², Jean¹) was born 25 July 1792 in Chester District, SC, and died 19 February 1873 in Leake Co., MS. He married Margret Gill¹ Abt. 1815 in SC, daughter of John Gill and Elizabeth Wallace.

Notes for Peter Marion:
      Buried in "Old Pensacola" or "Wallace" cemetery. In a pasture on land which now belongs to Sam. W. Waggoner. About 4 miles West of Carthage MS, on Old Hwy 16, about 1/8 mi. north of his house on west side of road. Only 35 to 40 discernible grave sites. The Marion headstone (Double, Peter & Margaret) is in exceptionally good condition as are almost all Wiggins and Gill headstones. The last person known to be buried in this cemetary was W M Wallace who died on 19 Dec 1928.
      Peter was listed head of house on 1860 Leake Co. census with his widowed daughter, Malinda A. Kennedy and her children Emma Kennedy age 13 and Milton Kennedy age 9.

Notes for Margret Gill:
Placing this person as Margaret GILL, daughter of John and Elizabeth (WALLACE) GILL and sister of John Marshall GILL is a guess at this point (Sept., 1999) based on two facts. 1.) Information in "Deed Book S p. 50, sg. 21 October 1816", Thomas Wallace lists his daughter as Elizabeth GILL and her children as: Margaret Marion William P. Gill Marshall Gill Hervis Gill Lemar Gill. Since the first two names, Margaret and Marion show no last name and all the other names do, I believe that this is very likely first and last name of one person, Margaret Marion. 2.) Robert Bruce Wiggins and Annie Belle Gill said they were 2nd cousins. If this person is Margaret (GILL) Marion, she is the grandmother of R. B. Wiggins. Her brother, John Marshall GILL is the grandfather of A. B. GILL. That DOES make them 2nd cousins.

Added Note Feb., 2000: Have seen a copy of the original Deed Gift mentioned above. This is almost surely one person, Margaret Marion. I have never seen a document which gave surnames for some and not for others. Most genealogists show Margaret and Marion as two separate daughters of Elizabeth Wallace Gill. That information probably came from this document since the only other children mentioned by them are the ones in it.

+	9	iv.	Martha Marion, born 24 August 1822 in AL; died in Morton, MS probably.
+	10	v.	Mary Paulina Marion, born 1826 in AL.
+	11	vi.	Emma Caroline Marion, born June 1833 in AL; died in Atala Co.
