Last Will and Testament of David Beghtel

In the name of God the father son and Holy Gost Amen! As we are all subject to death and life uncertain therefore I David Beghtel of the county of Stark and state of Ohio do make publick this my last will and testiment in the manner and form following that is to say First, it is my will that my funeral and all my past debts be fully paid. Second I give devise and bequeath to my beloved wife Polly in time of her dower the plantation on which we now reside containing about Senby and a half acres. together with a Lot containing thirteen acres purchased from Bradley Goodwell during her natural life together with all the live stock horses cattle sheep hogs by me now owned and kept there on and also all the household furniture and other items not particularly named or otherwise disposed of in this will during her natural life as aforesaid. she however first disposing of a sufficient ey share of to pay my just debts aforesaid and that at the death of my said wife all the property hereby devised or bequeathed to her as aforesaid or so much as may remain unesfonded to my four sons and to their heirs and forever However should my said wife after my death enter again into matrimony then in that event all the loose property is to be disposed of by public sale to the highest bidder She my said wife then to receive the third amount of the money - the ______________children to be put on contract till they severlly come to be twenty one years of age Furthermore it is my will in case my wife should enter the state of matrimony again after my decease then she shall not forfeit her dower right to my land and property but be enlisted to it as the forsaid writing were not made

Again it is my will that the above subscribed lands and property be sold to the best advantage whenever my youngest child shall have to have come to legull age

And lastly I hereby constitude and appoint my said wife Polly and my son Moses to be my Executors for this my last will and testament.

David and Polly Failor Bachtel lived on a farm in Pike Twp Stark County Ohio. They farmed in the summer and in the winter he turned to his trade as a weaver and a cooper. Polly raised and supported the family after he died at the age of 40.
