Notes for Lulu Maude Beghtel: Lulu left school at 15. She worked at a variety of jobs including telephone operator for the Urbana Phone Company, managed the sewing and notions deparment at a small department store that was in Urbana, Cyclone Manufacturing where she worked from home sewing the bags of the Cyclone Seeder and later in the office. For a while she had her own shop, the Oliver Shoppe, in Urbana where she sold sewing items, notions and gifts. She was also involved in local politics and with women getting the right to vote. She also kept chickens, sold the eggs, and another thing that was similar to cottage cheese that was very popular with people.
