I am researching the Valfer family,(Friesenheim,Gengenbach,and originally Valff) and the Geismar family (Breisach). The Valfer and Geismar families originated in South West Germany, in Baden-Wuertemberg, and in Alsace,France.Their descendants now live all over the world. The ancestry can be traced back to the 11th Century, to Medieval Germany, through the Weil family. I am particularly trying to find a connection between Siegfried Valfer, (named in the 1901 UK census, a German subject,a wine merchant, visiting the Wellington Hotel in Boscastle,Cornwall) and the Valfer family of Friesenheim/Gengenbach.He and his wife Elisabeth emigrated to York,Yorkshire ,England. They had a daughter who married William Blum, who is named on their death certificates.Siegfried died in 1941 and Elisabeth died in 1964.Both are buried in York. I am also trying to find family Weiss of Johannesburg,SA. Lina Valfer married Karl Weiss.Their daughter Fanny married a Bormann in 1947 in Johannesburg. Any information would be gratefully received. |
