Hi There
Thankyou for finding this page. I am currently trying to confirm my family links with the "JAGO FAMILIES" of Cornwall. JOSIAS JAGO who moved to Scotland (Glasgow), with his wife & family. SYDNEY JAMES JAGO is the son of Josias Jago, and was born after they had moved from Nailsworth in England to Glasgow. SYDNEY JAMES JAGO, my great grandfather, came to NZ from Scotland in the mid 1800's, however, we do not know from where and on what ship. He had several brothers, one of which was JOHN WESLEY JAGO, who was born in Nailworth, as were the other siblings. A press item in Dunedin at the time of his death statins that he and SYDNEY JAMES were brothers.
I am also working on the documentation of my wife's family, DERRY, from Cornwall in the UK. They lived in Wadebridge and Egloshayle, and we already have details as far back as the 1700's.
I have recently certainly confirmed that the Jago family (JOSIAS) originated in Cornwall, moving to Nailsworth and then to Glasgow.
I have discovered many relatives in Perth, Western Australia, who have been able to supply a considerable amount of information. This has now opened up a huge investigation.
Anyone able to help, please contact me.
Cheers,
