* Jakimier/Owens Family Research*

Updated July 29, 2002

Researching my paternal grandfather's side of the family, who came from a small village in western Ukraine called Wodniki. It is about 12 miles south of Lviv. Several members of the family came to the United States in the years 1907-1912 and settled in Massachusetts, New Jersey and New York. The names I am interested in are: Jakimier, Jakemer, Jakimer, Jakimow and Jakimiec.

I am also researching my maternal grandfather's family. Samuel Owens died of wounds, perhaps in Mobile, from the Civil War. His widow moved to Limestone County, Texas with their seven children. Eventually, the majority of the family entered the lumber business and lived in Dallas or Fort Worth, Texas.
