Charles Nicholas Richards and Nellie Marietta Doty
This project started with my son's school project. Luckily, many other people have researched our family history so it got easier and more interesting putting this information together. I found that the most interesting connection is my Great Grandmother, Nellie Marietta Doty. Through her, our family is connected to five of the Mayflower pilgrims, Doty, Hopkins, Brewster, Rogers, and Soule. But even more impressive, is that this woman, who was described as frail and delicate, had 16 children, in the pioneer days in South Dakota, and managed to keep the kids and the farm alive and well during the long absences of her husband, in spite of blizzards, no doctors, and visits from indians. Faith and strength are our heritage! Contributions and corrections are welcome. | Charles Nicholas Richards and Nellie Marietta Doty Updated December 22, 2006 |
