Notes for Clara Shepherd Bolton: Clara taught in Millington for many years and was principal of Millington East Elementary School from 1953-1970.
From "A History of Cuba, Tennessee with Family Accounts and Genealogy" by Shirley Sigler Chamberlin.
Clara's father was Wade Hampton Bolton (1865-1923), the son of Leonidas Bolton and Henrietta Polk. He attended the University of Tennessee Medical School and married Annie Lee Peyton (1865-1928) on January 20, 1887. Dr. W.H. Gragg was the witness. Dr. Bolton and JesseWilliams bought land in the heart of Cuba from W.T. Jackson on the same day: September 27, 1889. The two men built similar homes for their brides next to each other, just south of the Williams Store. A rather steep bank surrounded their adjoining front yards with a garden between the two houses. The Boltons had three children: Leslie and Hamp, born in Cuba, and Clara, born in Millington.
