Deux frères LeNeuf sont venus s'établir avec leur femmes et enfants en Nouvelle-France, ver s 1636. Michel LeNeuf, sieur du Hérisson,et Jacques LeNeuf, sieur de la Poterie.

Fils de Mathieu LeNeuf, Sieur du Hérisson et deJeanne Le Marchand, qui se sont mariés en déce mbre 1599, au temple huguenot de Caen, dans le département actuel du Calvados, en France. Cette famille a peut-être des origines de noblesse remontant à Richard Le Neuf au quatorzième siècle. Mais, il est très difficile d'établir la preuve du lien.
