From Anetta Labadie's geneology, he and Peter Labadie and their wives had settled with "New York Indians located on the Little Osage until they were run off by white settlers" which suggests that he was also mixed-race. "In later years, in applying as New York Indians, they were turned down as they had been living with the Peoria Indians for many years and had accepted payments through them." In 1856-1857 listed as living with the Osages, and in 1871, Frank was adopted into the Osage tribe and listed as 1/8 Osage "and was a New York Indian by birth, and his wife Susan Cecotte (sic) 1/8 Osage, dead, to be parents of..."
