      64. Robert Jarman, Sr., born Bet. 1774 - 1780 in Onslow County, North Carolina; died Abt. 1846 in Onslow County, North Carolina. He was the son of 128. Thomas Jarman and 129. Susannah Padgett. He married 65. Susan Marshburn.

Notes for Robert Jarman, Sr.:
DEATH: Robert Jarman (son of Thomas and Susannah Padfett) was born
between 1774 and 1780. He died about 1846. Court Records in Onslow
County show an inventory of his estate in 1846. Deeds of Onslow County
record the division of his real estate in June, 1853. Robert Jarman and
his family lived in the northwestern paof Onslow, probably on "Cowhorn
Branch." Robert Jarman married three times but no record has been found
to indentify either wives. His last wife was Susan--but her maiden name
is not listed in any record yet found. A deed dated January 14, 1848,
records the alloting of the dower right to Susan Jarman, of the lands of
Robert Jarman, deceased. By his three wives, ,Robert Jarman had several
childred--eleven can be indentified. It s likely there were other
children who died young.

Samuel was a farmer prior to enlisting in Onslow Co., NC. on Sept. 6, 1861 at age 38. Reported present during January-April, 1862. Reported absent sick on October , 1862. Reported present during November, 1864- February 1865. Captured at Five Forks, Virginia, on or about April 2, 1865. Confined at Point Lookout, Maryland, until released on June 21, 1965, after taking Oath of Allegiance. North Carolina pension records indicate he wounded near Petersburg, Virginia on December 15, 1964. Private in Co. A 35 Regular NCT. Info came from NC Troops 1861-1865.

According to the 1850 Census, the Family # is 636. The 1870 Census shows her as a widower of Rigdon Whaley, Jr. as being the Head of Household, the Family # is 45, with 2 daughters. Her Estate of Dec. 25, 1895, shows her with 3 married daughters and their husbands. The 1880 Census shows her living with her daughter, Sarah E. Hunter, wife of W.R. Hunter a Wheelwright.

Reported absent wounded through December, 1863. Detailed as a provost guard at Gordonsvill, Virginia, on February 8, 1864. Rejoined the company in July-August, 1864. Captured at Gill's Mill, Virginia, on April 6, 1865. Confined at Point Lookout, Maryland. Hospitalized at Point Lookout on May 4, 1865, with diarrhoea chronie and died on or about June 19, 1865.
