We are an Early American family with deep roots in this country spanning nearly 400 years. We've had men in every American war since the 17th Century and we were prominent participants in the Declaration of Independence, the American Revolution, the Continental Congress and the first American flag. We presented the Revolutionary War deed to Watkins Glen to the state of New York in the middle of the last century. The deed, drawn on the back of a small, one-pound flour sack with four Xs on the front, belonged to our 9th great-grandfather, Johnny Watkins, who fought with General Washington in the American Revolution. We're looking for him and we hope to find him soon.
