Page 225, Footnote no. 3; "Col. Thomas Jefferson, Representative in 1836, 1840, 1842 and State Senator in 1844 was evidently a leader of his day and time, although he left the county before his death, going to Arkansas about 1850. He was a leader and an Elder in the Britain Presbyterian Church for many years and served as a Justice of the Peace from 1841 to 1847. He was born about 1800 in Virginia and came with his parents to Rutherford County about 1804".
Page 232: "Thomas Jefferson was elected Public Register of Polk County, February 22, 1847. Polk County was created from part of Rutherford County in January of that year and appearantly Col. Jefferson lived in that part that became Polk".
