Clyde was born August 28th or 29th, 1911 on a farm next door to his present home near Huntsville, Randolph County, Indiana. During the 1920's his family moved to Winchester where he graduated from high school in 1931. He married Dora Helen Coffin June 18, 1943 in Kokomo, Howard Co. Indiana (where a favorite minister resided). In World War II he served in the Navy. Before the war he worked at Overmyer Mould and he continued there after the war. After Helen died, he married Mildred Marie Long King on August 9, 1952 in Winchester. While working at the factory, he farmed part time and Mildred taught business at Randolph Southern High School, Lynn, Indiana.
After their retirement they farmed full time.

Clyde Edmond Hunt, 94, of rural Modoc, quietly passed through the gates of heaven to be with his Heavenly Father and his Lord and savior on Thursday evening, July 20, 2006, at Reid Memorial Hospital, Richmond. Although he had been in poor health during the past several years, he was able to remain in the home which he and his wife, Mildred, built in 1959 on their farm north of Huntsville.
Clyde, the son of Bazel and Vora Belle (Jones) Hunt, was born at home on his family’s farm, which was located next door to his present home, on August 29, 1911. As a child he attended Huntsville School. In the late 1920s, he and his parents moved to Winchester. Clyde worked during his high school years as a "soda jerk" at a local drug store and "passed" newspapers to earn money to help support the family. He graduated from Winchester High School in 1931.
Some years after high school graduation, Clyde began his career as a mould maker for Overmyer Mould Company (OMCO), Winchester. During World War II, he served fours years in the United States Navy as a flight mechanic. After the conclusion of his military service, he returned to Overmyer Mould Company, where he worked until retiring in 1975. Never having lost his love for the country and the area where he spent his childhood years, Clyde returned to the Huntsville community, where he and his wife purchased the farm where he currently resided, in 1958. Although mostly retired from farming, he continued to take an active interest in his far until his death.
Clyde was a direct-line descendent of the Hunt family that founded Huntsville. Once predominantly populated by his ancestors and relatives, he is believed to be the last Hunt still living in the immediate area.
On June 18, 1943, Clyde married Helen Coffin, daughter of Guy and Grace (Stanley) Coffin, of near Lynn. The couple had one daughter, Lora (Hunt) Jeffries. Helen passed away on September 19, 1951. On August 9, 1952, he was married to Mildred (Long) King of Crown Point, Indiana, at the home of her sister and brother-in-law, Don and Marguerite Denney, Winchester. Mildred was the daughter of Adam and Alice (Weschke) Long, of rural Hartford City, Indiana. Mildred, who had also lost her first spouse, had one daughter, Karen (King) Gilliland. The couple had one son, Duane. Married for 52 years, Mildred preceded him in death on November 8, 2004.
Clyde was a 57 year member of Winchester Masonic Lodge, having served his lodge in many positions, including Worshipful Master. He was also a 32nd degree member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Fort Wayne, a member of Winchester Post 39, American Legion, Indiana Farm Bureau, and a past member of American Flint Glass Workers Union. He was also a member of the First United Methodist Church of Winchester.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Lora Hunt (husband Art) Jeffries, Carmel; one son, Duane Hunt, Schererville; one step-daughter, Mrs. Karen King (husband Bill) Gilliland, Anderson; one grandson, David Hunt, Boulder, Colorado; one granddaughter, Dr. Karrie (husband John) Adkins, Carmel; two great grandchildren, Levi and Lora Adkins, Carmel; two nieces, Mrs. Geraldine (Edwards) King, Erie, Pennsylvania and Mrs. Vivian Thornburg, Muncie; six step-grandchildren, including Matt Gilliland, who had resided with Clyde since Mildred’s death.
In addition to his first and second wives, Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, James, and his sister, Lottie (Hunt) Edwards.
Funeral services celebrating Clyde’s life will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, July 26, at the First United Methodist Church, 313 South Meridian Street, Winchester, with Pastor David Hummel officiating. Graveside services will be held at approximately 1:20 P.M. Wednesday in Huntsville Cemetery, where military graveside services will be conducted by William O. Frazier Post 333, American Legion. Calling will be in First United Methodist Church from 5 to 8 P.M. on Tuesday, July 25, where Masonic memorial services will be conducted at 7:30 P.M..
Memorials may be made to either First United Methodist Church of Winchester or National Parkinson Foundation.

Notes for Dora Helen (Helen) Coffin:
Helen Coffin Hunt contracted rheumatic fever as a small child and suffered from heart disease as a result. She attended beauty school after graduating from Lynn High School in 1934. She spent the last years of her life bedfast, spending her time doing beautiful sewing. She was taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD in hopes of finding a cure for her heart problems but she died there while undergoing treatment.
Obit-Winchester Journal-Herald, September 20, 1951-Helen Hunt, 35, Dies in Baltimore; Ill Six Months--Mrs. Helen Hunt, 35, wife of Clyde Hunt of 621 North West Street in Winchester, died at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD.
Death followed an illness of six months.
Other than the husband, the deceased is survived by 1 daughter, Lora Sue, age 5, the parents, Mrs. and Mrs. Guy Coffin of Lynn; one sister, Mrs. Albert Swaim of Huntsville, and 2 brothers Lonnie and Donnie Coffin, both of Farmland.
Mrs. Hunt was born near Huntsivlle and was a member of the Martindale Church.
The body is being returned to the Maynard and Walker mortuary in Winchester, from where the funeral services will be announced.
