Obituary: Columbus Evening Republican, Jan. 19, 1942; George Adkins passes away; Former resident dies in Indianapolis-burial will be here. George William Adkins, 76, died at 5:00 Sunday afternoon at his home 1206 West Nineteenth St. Indianapolis. He was a former resident of Columbus and has a number of relatives here. Mr. Adkins had been ill for several weeks and death was attributed to heart trouble. He was a railroader while residing in Columbus and later was a millwright. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 Wednesday morning at an Indianapolis church. The casket will be at the resdience from tonight until time of the services. Burial will be in Columbus city cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Christina Adkins, 3 sons, Howard, Earl and Lee Adkins, all of Indianapolis; a daughter, Mrs. Earl Roberts of Indianapolis, 1 brother, David Adkins of Indianapolis; two brothers-in-law, Daniel W. Greenfield of East Columbus, and Leslie Robertson of Columbus, and several nieces and nephews in this city.
