Dr Andrew Jennings & Alexis Jennings nee Cowan

Hello everyone!

We are currently researching out families Jennings and Cowan to produce a tree for our daughter Cairistiona....a Gaelic name!

Andrew's father comes from Gateshead in England and his mother, a Gillies comes from Ayrshire in Scotland. As well as Jennings (believed to be an Irish name, the eponymous ancestor being deposited in a Liverpool orphanage by a red-haired Irish girl c.1850s) and Gillies, other names of particular interest include, Flucker (mother's mother's name) a family of fisherfolk from Newhaven near Edinburgh who lived therein for about 400 years...Elliott(father's mother's name)a family of Border Reivers and Brannigan (a feisty great great granny).

Alexis father comes from Aberfoyle and mother, a McWhirter from Paisley. She is interested in tracing American/Canadian cousins of McWhirter origin. An ancestor she is particularly keen to find out more about is Theodotus Sumner (great great granddaddy) who went to Melbourne Australia in 1840s, from Cornwall, becoming a rich member of the New South Wales parliament...his son went to Aberfoyle in the 1890s..are there any Australian relatives out there?
