Notes for WILEY CAREW MCSWAIN:
Wiley Carew always went by the name Carew.
He had been sick some time before he died. An autopsy discovered cancer and it is presumed that was the cause of death.

In the 1900 Arkansas County, Arkansas, census, Wiley's parents have died and he is head of the household, with his sister Callie and brothers Matthew and James living with him. A Russell McSwain, age 21, is also reported as a boarder. it is not clear where this Russell came from or how he is kin to them. Like the others he was born in Arkansas, and both his parents were born in North Carolina.

Notes for SUSIE FRANCES LOWRY:
Different sources have the name spelled differently. In her formal listing of family information, Bertie Lois Dumond McSwain spelled the name Lowrey. But in her letters and in spelling it orally in a family discussion, she spelled it Lowry. In the Essex Funeral Home registry, there is a listing for a T W Lowrey (Book VI, 85). We cannot find listings for the specific Lowry family members we know.

Susie Frances Lowry died of the measles which would never "break out."
