Descendants of WILLIAM M. BEAVERS

Generation No. 2

      2. MILLIE ROSE2 BEAVERS (WILLIAM M.1) was born May 29, 1850 in Coffee County, Tennessee, and died August 19, 1935 in Arlington, Tarrant County, Texas11. She married THOMAS JEFFERSON ROBERTSON May 05, 1893 in Paint Rock, Alabama (Jackson County)12, son of WARNING ROBERTSON and FRANCES CALLAWAY. He was born August 01, 1837 in Jackson County, Alabama, and died March 04, 1915 in Arlington, Texas or Jackson County, Alabama.

Notes for MILLIE ROSE BEAVERS:
*According to other family members, Anna Green Hickman and others, Millie was actually named Emily.

*In the 1850 Coffee County Tennessee Census, Millie's name is listed as Emily.

*In the 1880 Jackson County, Alabama (Township IR4 &5 Enumeration District 96)Census, Millie is found as MILEY ROSE BEAVERS, age 28, with three children, WATSON T., Delar (Della), and Doney (Molly Bell). Millie Rose stated that both of her parents were born in North Carolina and that she was born in Tennessee.

*Millie Rose Beavers and Thomas Jefferson Robertson were not married until twenty years after the birth of their first child. She apparently used her maiden name until the marriage. Shortly after they were married, they separated and she came to Texas around the turn of the century. Most of her children came with her and they settled in Arlington, Tarrant County, Texas. Her oldest child, WATSON T., moved to Blair, Oklahoma. Millie made her home at 800 S. Pecan in Arlington, where her daughter Lou Perrett continued to live until her death in the 1970's.

*Per Sherry Noden: "I have a copy of Millie's death certificate. The date of birth there is listed as May 28, 1850. Under father and mother, the informant, Hugh, indicated "don't know". The story is that her parents were at least part, if not full, Cherokee Indian, and the family never spoke of it. Both Millie Rose and a Jim Beavers listed their parents as being born in North Carolina in the 1880 Jackson County census. In the 1850 Tennessee census, there is a family-William (44) and Emily (33) Beavers. They had 8 children, the first two born in North Carolina and the rest born in Tennessee. The youngest, Emily, aged 1/2, may in fact be our Millie Rose. The other children were Elizabeth (15), John (13), Mary (11), Sarah (10), Eliza (7), James (4), Adaline (3). The Jim Beavers in the 1880 Alabama census was listed as age 35, so he could be the James age4 in 1850."

Notes for THOMAS JEFFERSON ROBERTSON:
*Per Shannon Byrd (descendant of Richard Callaway Robertson):
Thomas J. Robertson married Millie Rose Beavers on March 3, 1893, in Jackson County, Alabama, after living with her for several years. They had six children before the authorities finally came and made them marry. Afterwards, the couple had one more child. Shortly after the turn of the century, Tom and Millie separated and she moved to Arlington, Texas. Tom was considered the "black sheep" of the Robertson family. There are many speculations on his demise.
