The Collins Family of Brooklyn & Queens, New York

I am currently researching the families of Robert and Catherine Collins (Collins is her married and maiden name). I have become stalled on Catherine's grandmother--Adeline Lowe. She was born Adeline Zimmermann and the name was changed at some point to Seaman. Her daughter Catherine was baptized as Clarenbole but the church register at St. Patrick/St. Lucy's was changed to Lowe. Her father was listed at Thomas Clarenbole and that also was crossed out and changed to Lowe in the register. The same changes were made for all of Adeline's children.

Family members have said that there was an adoption somewhere--no one is sure if Thomas Lowe adopted the Clarenbole girls or if Thomas himself was adopted and went back to his birth name at some point. There is also a story that Thomas or one of his parents was married to an Indian at some point in either Illinois or Indiana.

I have Thomas' death certificate and know where he is buried, but have been unable to locate either for Adeline. She may have died 1918-1920 in "The Brooklyn Old Ladies Home" based on my grandmother's memories. She is supposedly buried in a Canarsie, Brooklyn area cemetery, but without a more precise date, no cemetery is capable of locating her grave.

If anyone has any information that may be of help, it would be greatly appreciated.
