1. JAMES1 KELLIE was born Abt. 1672, and died Abt. 1708 in Kent co., MD. He married CHARITY. She was born Abt. 1670.

AMES KELLIE:
The Kelly family referred to above,of Cecil Monthly Meeting, Kent co., MD was that of James and Charity Kelly. James died between 1707-1709 and his widow remarried in 1710 a Mr. Spearman. Her second marriage was "contrary to discipline" (i.e. her groom was not a Quaker) and Charity was accordingly disowned. The children of James and Charity were Barbara, James, Benjamin, Mary, Joseph, Anne, and William. The eldest born in 1692 and the youngest in 1706."

The marriages...took place in the meeting, James' after his disownment...As was often the case, the dismissal seems to have severed only temporarily their connetion with the Society of Friends...(1723) 2 mo...'James Kelly last first month att court time drinking to excess and comitting several extravagances both in words and actions.' (1724)
