      3. Daisy Cromartie Ferguson, born 19 Jun 1884 in Bladen Co., NC; died 08 Aug 1976 in Ingold, Sampson Co., NC. She was the daughter of 6. Samuel Norman Ferguson and 7. Annie Cromartie Wooten.

Written in a letter by Annie Belle Johnson Stone to Donna Joy Johnson on December 15, 1996:

"Eugene Colistus was the oldest of six children. He graduated from N. C. State College in 1903 and was offered an excellent job in Pennsylvania with a railroad company. Trains were the thing in 1903. His parents told him he was needed at home to run the farm and cotton gin and provide for the family. I always felt he regretted not being able to go into his degree. He felt his duty to provide for the family. Eugene married Daisy Ferguson. They had four children. Eugene, Jr. died at 16 years of age, Harry 42, Albert 60 some.
During his life Eugene ran a sawmill, a cotton gin, garage and a hardware and grocery store in Clinton."

"Daisy Cromartie Ferguson attended Flora McDonald College - four years. She went to Ingold to teach, and married Eugene Johnson the next year - at that time married women were not allowed to teach, so she became a housewife."

[From "The Family of Cicero Howard Johnson] Albert Johnson developed diabetes at age sixteen. He attended Louisburg College but remained only two days because he was unable to receive the proper died for diabetes. Albert returned to Ingold where he farmed for the rest of his life. He lived to be sixty-three which was quite a miracle considering how severe his diabetes had been for forty-seven years.
