Petition for Dower.Nov.Term 1827 - John Hutchison, the attorney representing Betsy Alexander, widow of the deceased, requested her share in the real estate of the deceased.The court appointed the following committee to lay off the dower requested: Matthew Wallis, Esqr., James A. Todd, Jos.R. Sample, & Robert Barnett.
Provisions for a year, 18 Dec 1827 - In pursuance of an order of court a committee was appointed consisting of Matthew Wallace, J. P., Jos. K Samples, Dan Alexander and Jos A. Todd who laid off the follow provisions for the widow and family: 100 bushels of corn, 200 lbs. of flour, 500 lbs. of pork, one beef - widows choice, 100 lbs of brown sugar, 40 lbs. of coffee, 3 bushels of salt, and $5 in money for small items.
Return, May 1828 Term - The administrator reported that the money that had come into his hands since the last term came to $52 from three judgments collected by the Sheriff John Sloan.
Guardian Bond, 25 May 1830 - Elizabeth ("Betsy") Alexander was appointed guardian of the estate of Ann Carolyn, Susan Clarissa, & Sarah Jane Alexander, her own children and orphans of John G. Alexander, Decd., and bound in the sum of $200 to John Owens, Gov. of N. C., secured by Mars H. Alexander.
Settlement, 10 July 1830 - This settlement was made to Justices Matthew Wallace & Dan Alexander at which time the administrator reported that $182.59 had come into his hands and that he had settled debts to creditors totaling $175. 92 leaving a balance in his hands of $6.67. The admr., SILAS ORR, reported proceeds of $55.97 from the sale of household and kitchen items, including "Worfull Irons," and farm animals sold to the following: MARS LEMMOND, Marcus S. They also approved 17 vouchers from disbursements made by the admr. that with his commission came to the same amount. Payments had been made to the following: David Parks, Brawley Oates, William Alexander, James McNeely, E. L. Alexander, M. W. Alexander, Joseph H. Wilson, M. H. Cannon, William N. Spears, and Edwin Alexander. Guardian Bond, 28 Jan 1840. SILAS ORR was appointed guardian of the estate of SARAH J. ALEXANDER, and bound in the sum of $150 to the State of N.C., secured by Dan. Also in the 1860 census, John G. and Leah Monteith Orr were family #865.Family #862 was headed by Martha Monteith, widow age 60, and included Maria Monteith, who would marry James L. V. Orr, another brother.Maria and Leah Monteith were sisters. In the Mecklenburg census of 1870, Cunningham Miller Orr lived with Susan C. Miller.He was listed as the nephew of Susan C. Miller, who was the head of the house. When he married, Cunningham Orr and his family continued to live with Susan Miller.In the 1880 Census, C. Susan Miller is recorded in Long Creek Township as dwelling #348 family #359.Her age is 63.M. Cunningham Orr is recorded as dwelling #348 family #360, and his relationship to C. Susan Miller is recorded as nephew.Cunningham has a wife and four children. In 1910, Susan Miller age 93 resides with Silas G. Orr and his sister Jennette Orr, and is listed as their aunt. Susan C(larissa) Miller was probably married to Andrew Cunningham Miller, who was born June 10, 1810 and died Feb. 10, 1865.See the estate of John Garrison Alexander and of Elizabeth (Lemmond) Alexander, Silas Orr Executor.Andrew C.Miller is buried at Sugaw Creek Presbyterian Church. Ellwood is buried beside Elizabeth.She was born on Sept. 17, 1833 or 38 and died Dec. 30, 1869.Tirzah C. Wilson, who was Tirzah Cunningham Miller [mother of Margaret Isabelle Wilson who married Joseph Lemmond Orr], is buried alongside Andrew C. Miller at Sugaw Creek. It is not known by the researcher at this time whether Susan C.
