| Family history research is never finished! This is work in progress. I have been "progressing" for over ten years and will continue until all my faculties fail. Some family lines reach back 8 generations: to the colonial settlers of both America and French Canada. Some families were Oregon Trail pioneers. All were adventurous and hardy and very brave. The Scotch-Irish line came to the Pennsyvania area and had to fight in the American Revolution. Some others were Quakers that moved from the mid-Atlantic area to frontier Virginia before the Revolutinary War & suffered Indian attacks prompted by the British. Prickett's Fort still stands in West Virginia. Both lines converged early 1800's in Brown County, Ohio, near the mighty Ohio River. Later generations moved on to Illinois and then the big leap to Oregon. The French side immigrated very early in Quebec's history. Some moved on to Ontario and some to Michigan --before there was a U.S. border there. There are Norwegians coming to Northern Idaho in the 1880's. There's an interesting saga of Germans-from-Russia escaping worsening conditions under the Czars to Albert, Canada, about 1910. All those adventurous people are a part of me and my husband and our children. It's an exciting thing to have these diverse stories part of our history and to share it with others. _________________________________________________________________ The major family names are: Dunn, Boule, Mayhew (Mailloux), Lewis, Hanna, Waters, McKee, Prickett, LeDuc, Brunet, Treiber, Johnson (Johannson), Toomajian, Tabor, Kurtz and countless other surnames.
