Gayle Johnson &Sue Berry | Jacob Heinrich Kalb came to America, seeking a better land for his future. His homeland had been fought over for centuries, sometimes lying in French territories, sometimes in German territories. At the time of his departure, as a young man in his late twenties, his homeland was then in France. Thus, we have a very German man coming to America from France.Jacob married a young lady, Christianne Erlbeck, from Germany and they began their now united lives in Charleston. Jacob and Christianne were kind and generous people, much involved with family, church, community and friends. While they had a large family, only three of their children survived to adulthood. The authors of this page look forward to correspondence concerning Jacob and Christianne as well both their ancestors and descendants. |
