Services will be at 10 am Wednsday at Northland Christian Church for Allison W. 'Buss' Broadbent,89, Topeka, who died Friday, Feb. 21, 1997 at home.
He was born April 20, 1907, in Corning, the son of William and Gurta Funk Broadbent, and lived in Corning before he moved to Topeka in 1940.He was the first over-the-road truck driver for Hill Packing Co,. and worked for the company from 1940 until 1972.He was also a farmer.
He was a member of Northland Christian Church and Local No. 696 of the teamsters Union.
He was married to Juanita L. Turman June 28, 1933, in Seneca.She died Feb. 10, 1995.
A daughter, Ruth Broadbent, died in 1954
Survivers include three sons, Duane Broadbent, Ballantine, Mont., and William L. Broadbent and Larry Broadbent, both in Topeka; three daughters, Helen Fiebig, Barbara Sowards and Shirley Miller, all in Topeka; a brother, Marvin Broadbent, Corning; three sisters, Donna Shepherd, Onaga, and Edwina Johnson and Veda Wells, both in Topeka; 20 Grandchildren; eight stepgrandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren, 17 stepgreagrandchildren and a step-great-great-granddaughter.
Burial will be in Rochester Cemetary.Mr. Broadbent will lie in state after 8 am. today at Parker-Price Mortuary where relatives and friends will meet from 7 to 8:30 pm.Memorial contributions may be made to Meals on wheels, 1500 W.10th, 66604, or to Stormont-Vail Home Health, 1000 W.10th, 66604.
