Charley B. Funk, son of Christian and Julia Funk, was born April 27, 1881, one mile west of Corning, Kansas, where he grew to manhood.He was engaged in farming and resided with his mother on the home place, then in later years he owned and operated the west elevator in Corning.After leaving the elevator he lived in Vega, Texas Long Beach and bellflower, California.Charlie passed away at his home in Bellflower after an extended illness, on Feb. 5, 1958, at the age 76 years, nine months, and 14 days.
He was united in marriage to Mrs. Donna Smith at Tucumcari, New Mexico on Nov. 6, 1931.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife Donna, a stepson and family, who are Gilbert and Agie Smith, their daughter, Shirley and their son Lloyd ofLong Beach, California: a Brother -in-law, William Broadbent of Corning: four nieces who are Mrs. Phyllis Miller, of Seneca: Mrs. Edwina George and Mrs. Veda Wells ofTopeka and Mrs. Donna Shepherd of Soldier: two nephews, Allison Broadbent of Topeka and Marvin Broadbent of Corning, and all their families.
He united with the Methodist Church of Corning when young.He lived a christian life and was a kind and tender-hearted man.He was a true friend and neighbor and will be greatly missed.Funeral services were held Feb. 7, at the Flower Garden Chapel of Bellflower, California, with Vance Carruth officiating.
Interment was made in the Rose Hill Memorial Park cemetery of Long Beach, Calif.
