As a small boy I wondered where my ancestors came from. When I was thirty five Years old I begin to search for them starting with my Father, and Mothers' parents. I knew all my grand parents when I was a small boy. By the time I reached seventeen all my grandparents had passed away, and with them a lot of information I never obtained. I have had a lot of help from several of my Aunts and from several of my cousins, in particular, Sara Ann Brewer Houge and Carolyn Porter Shrader.
I have visited many county courts and Grave yards in South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia and Georiga. Traced my Gaines, Johnsons and Bollings as they picked up and moved for new lands and their dreams after the American Rev.
