1. JOHN1 MARKS, SR. was born 1716, and died Bef. April 04, 17881. He married URIAH LIDYARD Abt. 1740 in Pennsylvania, daughter of JOHN LIDYARD and CHARITY. She died Unknown.

OHN MARKS, SR.:
John's will was made on January 31, 1787. It stipulated the following: To his wife Uriah, all movable esate, full privilege o live on the place and to "enjoy the whole or any part of the House, Cellar and garden as she pleases." She also received one third of all revenue and produce, one Horse and two Cows, and firewood to be cut and brought to her door by the Executor. Uriah was named the Executrix.

To his children: 1) Elisha was named Excutor and left all wearing apparel. 2) Mary (w/o Thomas Humphrey) the sum of five pounds Virginia Currency. 3) Martha (w/o William Howell) twenty five pounds VA currency. 4) Uriah (w/o Jenkin Williams) 25 pounds VA currency. 5) John was left his own plantation. He was also instructed to pay Martha (Howell) 25 pounds and 30 shillings annually to his mother. 6) THomas was left his own plantation. He was instructed to pay 25 pounds to Uriah and thrity shillings annually to his mother. 7) Abel was left his father's plantation allowing his wife to live there by "lease". If Abel is not able to live on the planatation with his mother, she could she could let it out. Abel was also instructed to pay five pounds to Mary.

His will was witnessed by John Thatcher, Philip Thomas and David Thomas.

For his military service, Isaiah received four grants of land: 1) 1,000 acres Highland Creek; 2) 1,000 acres Tradewater River; 3) 1,000 acres Ohio River and Highland Creek; 4) 1,000 acresTradewater River.
