This photograph is of William T. Johnson (1837-1864). He was brother to my GGgrandfather, Louis Johnson. They were sons of Henry Johnson and Elizabeth Morris. William T. married Caroline Despain who was a granddaughter of Richard Skaggs and Jensey "Jane" Martin. According to family legend, William died while trying to save his father's horse from "Yankees" during the Civil War. He was being chased and caught his neck in a grapevine and was killed, whether from the fall or frome being shot, I do not know. He died 5 January 1864 in Taylor County, Kentucky.
