Members of the Dotson, Pickerell and Morris family gathered in front of the John Louis Morris home in the Levelwoods area of Larue Co., Kentucky in the early 1900s. The gentleman seated near the farthest left porch column is believed to be Benjamin Franklin Morris (1864-1952), s/o Wm. H. Morris and Perfectua Pickerell, a grandson of Cornelius Morris of Taylor County. The lady standing on the porch farthest to the right is his wife, Nancy Catherine Pickerell (1873-1949) daughter of Stephen Pickerell and Nancy Jane Roberts Ball. The younger lady standing in the center of the photograph, between the two gentleman I believe to be Emily Jane Pickerell (1871-1924), wife of William Holland Dotson. I cannot identify anyone else. This photograph was in the collection of photographs belonging to my GGgrandmother, Rebecca Jane Dotson (1872-1934). Her grandmother was Elizabeth Pickerell Allen but my research has not connected her family with this Pickerell family although they did live in the same area. However, my GGgrandmother was briefly married to a Eugene Morris in the early 1900s. I know nothing about his family but believe he must be a part of this family and is perhaps how Rebecca came to possess the photo. This was the home of John Louis Morris and Nora Jane Gaddie. John Louis was distantly related to Ben Morris and the families lived adjoining each other in the Levelwoods area. John Louis Morris was a son of John T. Morris and Rutha Jane Hash and was a great-grandson of Henry Johnson and Elizabeth Morris, my GGGgrandparents.
