The old house pictured in the background was willed to Martha Woodson Marr by her father, Gideon Marr, in 1877. The house is still standing near Willowtown in Taylor Co., Kentucky. It was built for William Carlisle and wife, Grisselda McColgan. Their daughter, Mary "Polly", Mrs. Gideon Marr, inherited the home and farm when her mother died in 1864. The house is of log constuction under the weatherboarding and was probably built, or atleast the first section, before 1820.
