This beautiful old mansion in Clarke County, Virginia was the home of Warner Washington Jr. and his wife, Sarah Warner Rootes. Sarah was the sister of my ancestor, Phillip Reade Rootes, who married Elizabeth Smith and came to Green Co.,(now Taylor Co.) Kentucky before 1810.
