My Great-Grandmother, Edmonia Purcell (Mrs. Thomas H. Johnson), was the daughter of Richard Dennis Purcell and Mary Anna Riddle. She was born near Hodgenville, Larue County, Kentucky on 18 May 1898 and was the namesake of Edmonia Cessna, wife of Joseph Howard. She died in Campbellsville, Taylor County, Kentucky on 6 October 1967. She was a school teacher and taught school in Taylor County for a number of years. This photograph was made in 1916, the year she taught her first school at Beech Point Schoolhouse on Bulltail Creek, Taylor County, Kentucky
