The Rolfe Family of Aurora, IllinoisUpdated October 21, 2002 | Joyce M Johnson [email protected] |
This family is comprised of Rolfes, Marcleys, Nicholson, Baileys, Stookeys, Babcocks, Cunninghams and Florey's.The Rolfes came from Maine, the Marcleys from New York, Nicholsons from Canada and ended up in Illinoisthe Stookeys settled in Virginia and this line eventually settled in Illinois also. The Babcocks were in Iowa and Oklahoma. Our line of Florey's settled in Decatur, IllinoisOn the Fitzpatrick side, we have Fitzpatrick, McLaughlin, Shumaker and Davey for the main names. This family made it's home in Nebraska most of the time. I have been researching these families for the past 10 years and have collected a vast amount of information, which includes Civil War records and pension records. I am currently working on the Fitzpatrick line and cannot make the connection to the line in Ireland as I don't know who the parents of Joseph Fitzpatrick are or where in Ireland he came fromThe first information I have on him is in Kewanee, Illinois in 1860.He married Julia Schumaker and they had 11 children of which 7 survived. If anyone has any connection to this family I would appreciate any information or help. | |
