She is thought to be the sister of Germain Doucet, Sieur de la Verdure. It was previously thought that Jacques Bourgeois had come to Port-Royal with his father who was a sieur and an officer. In 1654 when Sedjwick seized Port- Royal, the army offi cers had to return to France. Now we are told that there was only 1 Jacques Bourgeois, and that his mother was Marguerite Bourgeois, widow of Nicolas Grandjehan. See file
