Suicide at Edenville
John Brown Found Dead Hanging in His Barn
John Brown of Edenville was found Dec. 4 at about six o'clock, hanging in his barn, a new log building, in which a pole put up for a seaffolding afforded a convenient support for the man in his unhappy purpose, reports the Midland Republican.
Mr. Brown arose and started out about five o'clock, saying "Goodbye" as he went. His son, Lemuel, about 13 years old, hearing him say this arose and followed him, his tracks leading to the woods, perhaps 40 rods distance.
From the woods he went to the bar which is perhaps 12 rods from the house wehre his son found him haning, and cut the body down. A neighbor, Marion Swan, helped to bring him to the house and though there seemed a little sign of life, it lasted but for a moment.
Mr. Brown was a man of middle age, and was despondent over his affairs, and not in good health. He leaves a wife and five children, Lemuel being the oldest, and was a brother of Lem Brown and a brother-in-law of Elmer C. Nolan
