We are researching our families. Lloyd's family is rooted in Trelawny parish in Jamaica, West Indies. Connie's family is rooted in Greenville, South Carolina.

Legend has it that, about 1840, Lloyd's great grandfather, George Joshua Dickson, and his brother (William?) "jumped" a British ship that had sailed to Jamaica (Falmouth?). George settled in the isolated Cockpit Country in upper Trelawny Parish. Nothing is known of his brother, William, who according to family lore, may have settled in Jamaica's Westmoreland Parish.

Lloyd's parents where both born in Trelawney Parish. His mother, Louise Amelia Dixon, was born in 1899 in Warsop, and his father, Clarence Lionel Johnson, was born in 1898 in Falmouth. In 1918, they separately migrated to Boston, Mass., met, married and had three children; Calvin (1924 - 1997), Eleanor (born in 1928) and me (born in 1932).

In July, 1996, after years of researching and planning, we had a family reunion in Negril, Jamaica, W.I. Over 150 family members attended from 13 States, Canada and the United Kingdom. We plan to hold other reunions in the future.

As you peruse our family histories, you will see that we've made considerable headway in locating and identifying many of the descendants of George Joshua Dixon. But, we need help in locating and identifying folks from those early years who settled in other parts of Jamaica ... and the world.
