* Life & Times of Parley Philip Johnson & Family*

Updated May 30, 2009

Our Family History is a mixture of mainly Scots-Irish, Dutch, English and other European national origins. I am researching the ancestors of Parley Philip Johnson & Edith Christine Fail. Some of the surnames listed are: JOHNSON: Dixson, Paddleford, Mason, Neife; CARMICHAEL: Summers, Wellborn, Beavers, Reid; FAIL: Reynolds, Shula, WILLIAMS: Bowen (Boen), and many others..... My Uncle Wylie P. Johnson of Birmingham, Alabama has compiled all of the Johnson and Carmichael information and provided a GEDCOM which I have uploaded here. Our JOHNSON line originated in the United Kingdom prior to 1600. 1.Solomon Johnson was from the county of Kent located in South Eastern England and immigrated to the Boston,MA area of New England. He and his family lived in Marlboro, MA for four generations: 2. John, 3.Daniel, 4.Zebadiah and 5.Israel Johnson who moved to Chesterfield, New Hampshire. 6.Thomas Johnson and 7.Orson Johnson were born in NH. Eventually the line moves "West" when Orson Johnson married Nancy Mason and migrated to Kirkland, Ohio and Trivoli, Illinois. Their son 8.Philip Paddleford Johnson married Caroline Adelia Dixson settled the town of Red Oak, Montgomery County, Iowa in the 1850's. The line then moves south in 1888 when P.P. Johnson traded the Hotel Johnson in Red Oak,Iowa for the Walker Plantation east of Montgomery, Alabama. Their son 9.Seth Johnson remained in Alabama married Neva Kate Carmichael and raised 13 children. My father 10.Parley Philip Johnson was born at their plantation home Carol Villa Estate in east Mongomery, AL on 20 April 1917. He married Musette Glawson on 3 Jul 1939 and had one daughter Miriam Musette Johnson born 1 Aug 1946. My maternal surname "FAIL" originated in Scotland then on into Ireland. The FAIL Family of Scots-Irish immigrants left Ireland for the rich land of Virginia and the Carolina's. As the West opened up they moved into Putnam County, Georgia and later into Butler County, Alabama where they established a large farm in the 1850's and 1860's..Dixson Newton Fail was 1stSGT. of the 15th Alabama Calvary at Mobile in 1862 when he died of a high fever. His son James May Fail married Jo Anna Reynolds raised 10 children and continued to farm near Fort Deposit, Alabama. Their son Herbert Clarence Fail married Lucy Alma Williams moved from the Flatwoods Community, Lowndes County, Alabama to Luverne, Crenshaw County, Alabama and raised a family of 10 Children. Their daughter Edith Christine Fail married Parley Philip Johnson on 15 Mar 1952 in Evergreen, Alabama. She had a daughter, 3 year old Edith Carol Franks which they raised together. They moved to Lockhart, Covington County, Alabama. There children are; Judy Nora, Spencer Carmichael-(lived 4 years Spina Bifida), Parley Philip, Seth Herbert and David Henry. Please feel free to contact me as I am interested in exchanging GEDCOM Files on any information concerning these Family lines. Updated on 30 May 2009 by Parley Philip Johnson, Jr.
