* Some Johnson Family Links in Lincolnshire, England*

Updated October 20, 2004

Most of these family lines are scattered across the north of the Historic County of Lincolnshire, England. A few forebears strayed over the county boundary into Yorkshire and the Isle of Axholme to marry, while others migrated into South Lincolnshire, and made the occasional foray into Norfolk.
Much of the data here was collected from parish records in the Archive at Lincoln, and at the local Family History section of the library in Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire.
While it is possible to have confidence in recent historical data, it has to be considered that some of the early links must be tentative.
Many of the males of these families were agricultural labourers or in trades associated with agriculture (master wheelwrights, gardeners, and carpenters etc,), or they were watermen, mariners, rope-spinners etc., and associated with the rivers and sea routes around the County. Both groups were much more mobile than I ever considered possible, at the start of the research.
Any information concerning errors or additions will be gratefully received.
Thankyou, Rex
