He married CHRISTINE DINGWALL February 11, 1845 in St. Anns, Cape Breton, daughter of DONALD DINGWALL. She was born September 02, 1820 in Scalpey, Outer Hebrides, Scotland, and died January 22, 1906 in St. Anns, Cape Breton.

Notes for JOHN "BIG JOHN" MORRISON:
In the 1891 census there is a Mary MacAskill, born about 1841, living in John's household. According to John's great grand daughter, Murdena, this is Angus "Giant" Macaskill's cousin. John provided that she would always have a home with the Morrison family. She is buried in the Morrison plot, and her name is engraved on the back of John's headstone. Many visitors to John's home thought she was deaf and dumb, but the truth is, she never learned to speak English. She only responded to Gaelic speakers. In 1901census she is living with Christine (Dingwall) Morrison, date of birth given as November 30, 1840.

MISS FLORA MORRISON
Baddeck, Aug 23 - The death occurred at the home of Mr and Mrs Alex MacMillan, Kempt Head, Boularderie, of Miss Flora Morrison at an early hour Thursday morning, Aug. 16, after a long and painful illness. She was the last surviving member of the family of Mr and Mrs Donald Morrison of Big Hill, Victoria County. She was born at Big Hill, March 17, 1872, and resided there all her life until four years ago when she went to reside with Mr and Mrs Alex MacMillan. Although in failing health for a number of years, her death was unexpected and was a shock to her relatives and friends. Of a kind and generous disposition she will be greatly missed in the home and community. She was tenderly cared for by Mrs Alex MacMillan and Miss Margaret MacMillan during her illness. She was a devoted member of the South Haven Presbyterian Church and a member of the W M S and Ladies Aid for over thirty years. She is survived by a number of nieces and nephews in Canada and the United States. [Sydney Post Record Fri 24 Aug 1951 p 3]
