Notes for Edmund Joines: In a letter written by Wesley Joines, Sr. on the 25 October 1920 and published in the book "The Ancestry of Della Blevins Graham" writte n by Della B. Graham in 1955. Wesley states that Ezekiel Joines was married twice and that he raised two sons by his second wife, Edmund and Jack. He also stated that Edmund and Jack settled in the Brushy Mountains of Wilkes County, North Carolina.(Doc# 193) Edmund Joines is named in Ez ekiel Joines' Will. Jack Joines is not. There have been no records located on a Jack Joines living in Wilkes County, during this time period.(Do c# 194)
Edmund Joines is named in Ezekiel Joines' Will that was presented t o the Wilkes County Courts in August of 1803. In the Will he is named as " Edmund Joines alias Edmund Gunter ".(Doc# 194) There are several ot her documents that refer to Edmund Joines as " alias Edmund Gunter " it is not known why this was done.
Edmund Joines is listed in the 1797 Tax list of Wilkes County as owni ng 87 acres of land. This is probably the 87 acres that Ezekiel owned i n 1795. (Doc# 93,94)
Edmund is listed in the 1800 Census of Wilkes County, North Carolina. (Doc# 82)
Edmund purchased 100 acres of land from Ezekiel Joines on the 5 of Ju ly 1803. This land was located on Cub Creek in Wilkes County, North Carolina . In the deed Edmund is named as "Edmund Gunter, alias Edmund Joines".(Doc # 88) Wilkes Co. Deed Book C, pg. 519
Edmund is listed in the 1805 Tax list from Wilkes County, North Carol ina. (Doc# 93) He is also listed in the 1810 Census, the 1820 Census, an d the 1830 Census.(Doc# 82,96)
In the 1820 Census of Washington County, Georgia the names of Edmun d Joins and Ezekiel Joins appear.(Doc# 97) This is the same county that the J abez Joines family lived in, during the late 1700's and early 1800's.(Doc # 14)
In the 1850 Mortality Schedule from Wilkes County, North Carolina, Ed mund Joines is listed as having died during August of 1849, at the age o f 74. From this it can be determined that Edmund was born about 1775.(Doc # 98)
