James "Horseshoe" Robertson was a Rev. War Soldier who lived inOconee Co., SC until about 1830. He then moved to Tuscaloosa, Al
with his children and their familiesand settled in the area of the county that is now called Romulus. He was the inspiration for the fictious character Horse Shoe Robinson in a novel written by John P. Kennedy in 1825. Other surnames in my family include Headen, Clements, Oliver,Poole, Pennington,Ball, Powell, Cockrell/Cockerell, McClendon and others. Most of these families have roots in VA,SC, NC,GA, TN or AL.
My Poole line includes William "The Joyner" Poole of VA, Walter "The Cooper" Poole, Adam Poole, Fielding Peter Poole, George Washington Aaron Poole, Martha Jane Poole Ball. The Poole family lived in VA, Ga and Al.
Adam Poole was married to Betsy Pennington Ramsey(widow of Henry Ramsey). Betsy's father was Abel Pennington(originally of Wilkes Co., NC).
At this point, I am at a stand still on my Ball line. My earliest Ball ancestor was my great-grandfather, James Henry Ball, believed to have been born in or near Frankliln, Tn.

If you think you may be connected to any of these families, please contact me. I will be happy to share what I have.
