Air Force enlistment in Reserves Univ. of Me 1941
Active duty Basic Training Sheppard Field Wichita Falls Texas spring 1943. Graduated 15th in class of 200 from Radio School Sioux Falls,S.D.fall 1943. Aerial Gunnery Scholl Yuma, AZ winter 1943. Air Crew Training in B-25 Mitchell Bombers spring 1944.Picked up new B-25 Mitchell Bomber in Savannah,GA May 1944 flew to Sacramento,CA for outfitting bomber for crossing to Honolulu,HA June 1944 with extra gas tanks that were removed in Honolulu before going on to Australia. Flew 55 combat missions (New Guinea thru the Phillipines). Returned to US in June 1945. Flew cover at the landings at Zamboanga, Mindanao and Cebu City, Cebu, PI.
