I wanted to tell you some about that picture of Ruby Hayden.
She played piano in silent movies and I do have a couple of letters her husband wrote to her in the 1920's. She died in 1987. Her husband was dead some years when she died. She left no will. She had no children. I didn't know about her. I will get those letters to you also, in time.
One day this guy called me and said there were 'assets' and I told him that was not possible. (I been poor all my life..there was no one in my family who had anything..a few had a house that to me seemed nice only because we lived in shacks..haha ) so I didn't believe him at all. Then he went on to explain his work which was to find family of those who die without wills so the stuff can be divided.
He makes a living doing that. I told him I didn't care about money but I wanted all the old picture and her bible if it was possible. It took some time but I got them and a check for 400something$. There's a lot of Jones you know. :P
Ruby Hayden had a neighbor named Pauline Siedler who helped her very much. I talked to Pauline a few times. She
said no family ever came to see Ruby. I think that was because all she had know had already died as Ruby was 95 when she died. She said Ruby would cry and say she wondered why no one ever came to see her. Pauline also told me that Ruby always got very frightened whenever the wind blew hard. I got sad of those things when she told me. If I had know about her I sure would of went to see her. It must have felt so bad to her as she had always been around so much family all her life. I had no idea there was anyone left down there in Los Angeles county though I had been told that Clara and her husband as well as Frank (son of Kinsey also) and his family had lived there but that was before my time. I had not heard anyone talk of them in my lifetime. That picture I sent you that you said is Joseph was among her pictures! :D Also the one of Kinsey and Mary when they were young. Iam not sure if I sent you that but I think I did. There were pictures of her and her husband also. A cousin who knew Ruby said she used a lot of makeup as she used to visit her when she was very young. I don't know why no one ever talked about these relatives when I was growing up. Well maybe they did and I don't remember. Most of my childhood was a nightmare. A very sad story indeed.
Anyway I will try to tell you all I know about each picture I send to you if there is anything I know about it.
I guess you know you are a special cousin to me.
Deb
