Phaltiel Franklin TUCK, b. 14 Sep 1834, d. 4 Jan 19ll, was the son of Powell and Edney. He md. Caroline WILLIAMSON who was probably the niece of Edney.
Paul TUCK, son of Ned TUCK, b. 18 Mar 1793, d. 19 Aug 1865, md Nancy TUCK, his 1st cousin, dau of Richard TUCK. Phaltiel Monford TUCK was one of their sons, b. 17 Dec 1827, d. 9 Jul 1862.
Richard Thomas TUCK, son of Paul and Nancy TUCK, b. 3 Sep 1824, d. 18 Nov 1888, is erroneously listed in Macon's book as Thomas TUCK who died as a young adult. Actually he left VA and went to TN and then KY. He md. Sarah Elizabeth Jones TUCK, b. 18 Feb 1832, d. after 1915, his 1st cousin, the dau of Powell TUCK and Edney WILLINGHAM. Macon was unaware of this marriage.
Phaltiel Franklin TUCK, son of Richard and Sarah TUCK, b. 15 Jul 1855,d. 26 Feb 1918, md. Alice Susan ORANGE and later moved to Bollinger Co, MO.

Phaltiel E. A. TUCK, son of Emulus and Balsora, b. 11 Jan 1847, md. Ellen HEDDERLY.
There may well have been other Phaltiels, these are some of the earlier ones in VA, TN, KY and MO who are descendants of Ned TUCK. As many of us have noted, marriages between 1st cousins were common in the family in the 1800s.
Some of the information above comes from Macon's book. A word of caution--just as I found erroneous info in my line, others have found inaccurate data there as well. The data given on Powell TUCK's descendants has been verified at least with family records and in some cases with official records.
Hope this helps; a great many people have confused Phaltiel Franklin TUCK who md Caroline WILLIAMSON with the Phaltiel Franklin TUCK of the next generation who md Alice Susan ORANGE.
My own family line includes both Ned TUCK and Richard TUCK, sons of John TUCK, as my 4th great grandfathers. Powell TUCK, his brother Paul TUCK and Richard's dau Nancy TUCK were all 3rd great grandparents. Sarah Elizabeth Jones TUCK and Richard Thomas TUCK were 2nd great grandparents; Phaltiel Franklin TUCK and Alice Susan RANGE were my great grandparents. Their oldest dau, Icy Aldora TUCK, md George Frederick BUCHNER, my grandparents. Aldora BUCHNER, their dau, is my mother, still living at age 98; my father was Harold Cecil LORENZ. Interestingly enough, there was no family record of Richard, Paul and Nancy TUCK, although the actual TUCK name came down through Paul's son. I suppose it was because it was the Powell TUCK line that moved to TN, KY, MO, and also Richard Thomas TUCK died at least 27 yr before his wife Sarah E.J. TUCK. Early genealogical work in the family, using Macon's book easily identified Sarah as a TUCK ancestor, but it took a while to connect her Thomas TUCK who had died, with the Richard Thomas TUCK who actually moved west!

Paddy - Brenda - I am finally getting a bit of time to get caught up just a bit - I had been too focused on getting Aletha's book typed in figuring it would be easier to edit that way - HUH!!! - I am going to be bald and committed - why did I ever pick genealogy to RELAX???
When I try to correct the date I have for Richard Tuck - son of John - per your information below - it comes out that he is about 20 years older than his siblings and his mother would have been over 50 when he was born ??? The date I have for the Richard - son of John & Mary is July 12, 1773 - I did have him married to Mary Jane Unknown …. With Nancy - Asa - Sara - Alfred - Elizabeth - Richard Jr. - Mary Jane - Jane - John - David -& Munford (which is the right spelling - Monford or Munford? - (Poor woman - I guess she never could see her feet - her belly was always in the way!)
I am going to leave the birth date I have in there and keep on plugging - will you please let me know what to do - I trust you tow explicitly as great sources! Thank you
