HI WELCOME TO JONES PLANTATION! THIS IS MY HOME PAGE DEDICATED TO OUR SEARCH FOR THE HISTORY OF THE JONES FAMILY. WE HAVE TRACED THE JONES LINE TO COLLETON COUNTY, SOUTH CAROLINA. ALOT OF INFORMATION HERE ON THE BRANCHES OF OUR TREE CAME FROM JERRY PRITCHER ( "JPRICHER@WORLDNET.ATT.NET" ) THAT COVERS THE MURDAUGH AS WELL AS OTHER LINES. WITHOUT HIS HELP WE WOULD NEVER MADE IT THIS FAR. THANK-YOU "COUSIN" JERRY.
IF YOU CAN HELP, PLEASE DO. I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO MEETING MORE "COUSINS" AND LOOKING INTO OUR PAST HISTORY

John S.B. Jones married Mary Ursula Murdaugh in Colleton County South Carolina. They lived in the northern part of the county in a community called Cross Swamp. John was born March 12 1821.
He had 7 children: John and Lazarus B. twins b. 13 July 1844, Joseph W. b. 14 Aug 1846, William N. b. 25 Mar 1849, Cynthia E. b. 1850, Mary b. 1852, Nelson B. b. 14 Sep 1855. I think his wife Mary Ursula died in child-birth after Nelson was born as John S.B. was remarried and had 6 more children with a lady named Amanda J. Preacher,(nicknamed Johnny). Their children were: Charles O. b. 1858, Ella b. 1860, John b. 1863, Joseph L. b. 1865, Carrie R. b. 1867, William P. b. 1869.
John S.B. died 12 August 1892 and is buried next to his first wife Mary, in the old graveyard at Cross Swamp Methodist Church, Colleton County, South Carolina. Amanda is buried in Bamberg South Carolina. His brother Jesse Stancel Jones, a Confederate Soldier is buried close to him. Marys parents, Josiah P. Murdaugh and Mary Ursula Varn are buried there as well.
