Sir;
I have to advise you that from the papers in the Revolutionary War pension claim, W. 8455,
it appears that Charles Miles was born in Culpeper Co., Va. Mch. s, 1756 and while residing
there enlisted 1775 and served six months in the minute service, in Captain John Jameson's
company, Va. Troops.In 1781, he enlisted and served two or three months as a private in
Captain Rodgers; company, colonel Allcook's regiment.He was in the battle of Great
Bridge. He was allowed pension on his application excuted Aug. 16, 1832, while a resident
of Culpeper Co., Va.He died Jan 4, 1838. Soldier married June 17, 1779, Patty (Patsey),
daughter of William Vaughan, she was allowed pension on her application excuted May 26,
1838, while living in Stenensburg, Culpeper, Ca. aged 76 years. She was living in
Covington, Ky. in 1844 with a daughter, name not stated.In 1844, a daughter, Sarah,
living in Ky., testified in the case.
